Making Your Own Pet Toys
If you’re looking to save money by making your own pet toys, you can easily do so for pennies on the dollar. In fact, you may already have items in your home that can be used to make a special toy for your pet. Of course, the type of toy that you make all depends on the type of pet that you own. The majority of pet owners have cats, dogs, rodents and birds. You can use the Internet to help you find do-it-yourself projects for making your own pet toys.
For cats and dogs, it’s pretty easy to make something that they would enjoy chewing on or scratching up. If you have an old stuffed animal that you no longer have use for, you can allow them to play with it. Just make sure you remove any small pieces, like the nose, which can fall off and choke your pet.
As a fetch toy, you can place a bell and tennis ball inside of a sock. Tie it up tight and toss it around to get your pet’s attention. Make sure that you supervise your pet while using this toy because if the sock gets loose, the bell could end up choking him or her.
If you have a rope in your home, you can cut a piece of it and tie two knots at the ends. You can use this as a chew toy or to play wrestle with your dog. A ball of yarn can also be used for your kittens and cats. Cats love to chase around strings and chew on them. Weave a stringy toy for your cat to fight with. Just make sure none of the strings are too short to where it can come off and be swallowed by your kitten or cat.
