Top 10 fashion no-nos
Fashion magazines are filled with numerous descriptions and models of what to wear. But the opposite is just as important – what not to wear. That is, what clothing doesn’t look good when it is worn? This varies from person to person, but a number of basic rules can still be followed. Given that fashion is broad, let’s focus it a bit. For the time being, we’ll focus on the top ten fashion no-no’s that any guy should be aware of.
For starters, any guy should avoid wearing baggy pants. This may be the fashion in prison and in nineties rap videos, but for the rest of us, it constitutes a fashion no-no. Equally tacky are leather pants because the days of hair bands are well behind us. Some men may not have realized this and if you see them, they may also be “rocking” another fashion no-no – the mullet. Mullets may be fashionable for a few lingering stars, but the look is still considered tacky, at best.
Another fashion item to beware of is flower-print shirts. For anyone living outside of Hawaii, there is no reason to wear such a shirt. Are you really feeling aloha, for example, in the middle of Pennsylvania? Probably not, and this makes any Hawaiian-styled shirt something to avoid at all costs. You should also avoid other warm weather no-no’s like socks with sandals, shorts that are cut-offs yet still have the pants pockets showing, and the Crocs brand of footwear. You should also avoid wearing swimwear that is clearly swimwear. You’re not fooling anyone, for example, when you wear a bathing suit to an event that is far from the beach.
Finally, avoid wearing capris – they are women’s fashion – and have the common sense not to wear a muscle tee when you have not been to a gym in the last year.
